We have an opportunity for youSummaryThe Machinist creates and designs machine parts by analyzing specifications, metal stock, setting-up and operating machine tools, and fit and assemble parts, and repair cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and miscellaneous components using appropriate Tool Room equipment to complete the job in the most efficient manner.

    Duties and ResponsibilitiesAnalyzes work orders, blueprints, sketches, models, and/or descriptions to visualize shape of a part or tool and determine material requiredInputs dimensions, plan layout, and determines assembly method of sequence of operationResponsible for heat treating all partsCuts, shapes, and trims prototypes to specified length or shape by using appropriate Tool Room equipmentLayout stock for machiningSets up and operates machine tools such as milling machine, shaper, and grinder, to machine parts and verifies conformance of machined parts to specificationsInspects and verifies dimensions, alignments and clearancesResponsible for setting up and running water jetsExamines current or previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of partDevelops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of productPromote a safe workplace by performing all tasks in a safe and thoughtful manner in compliance with all rules, procedures, instructions, devices, equipment and use of appropriate personal protective equipment.

    Maintain vigilance for any hazardous conditions or practices in the workplace and immediately report any unsafe condition or practice to your supervisor.

    Ability to be punctual and attend work on a regular and consistent basisThe person in this position needs to wear appropriate safety clothing and shoes when needed.

    This includes safety glasses, lift belts and steel toe shoes etc.
