    US Applicants Only General Position Summary:

    As a Project Engineer Intern you will have the opportunity to gain experience how to provide project management support for Project Managers through effective communication, negotiation, scheduling, tracking, document control, and forecasting of costs and profitability. Support and collaborate with company superintendents, foreman, engineers, detailers, and management to deliver quality and profitable projects.

    Learning Objectives:

    Throughout the duration of the internship, the intern will learn how to:

    • Identify and define the common business terminology used at the worksite
    • Build client and subcontractor relationships
    • Assist in the establishment of project forecasts and budget
    • Assisting with project submittals
    • Manage costs
    • Accept responsibility for project execution
    • Change order estimation
    • Tracking, forecasting, reporting labor hours and material costs
    • Major equipment and subcontracts buyout
    • Tracking deliveries of major equipment/materials
    • Creation of RFI's
    • Document control with UMC Standards as well as contractual compliance
    • Collaboration with field labor supervision to plan, organize and schedule project work including preparation of subcontract/contract integrated project schedule
    • AIM processes
    • Review contract drawings, detail drawings and specifications
    • Assist with UMC Safety Program at the jobsite
    • Participate in jobsite visits/ mechanical contracting observation s
    Position Requirements

    Education/Experience/Attributes/Requirements:

    • Must be pursuing or have a bachelor/master's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
    • Excellent critical thinking skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals
    • Preferred experience with PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
    • General knowledge of construction principles/practices required
    • Experienced dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work is a plus Initiative-taker who can work well on a team

    Licensing or Other Special Certifications Required:

    • Maintain a valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
