    THE POSITION

The Department of Environmental Protection is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Air Quality Engineering Trainee to join our Northcentral Regional Office team This position will equip you with valuable knowledge and prepare you for a successful career as an Air Quality Engineering Specialist.     DESCRIPTION OF WORK


    As an Air Quality Engineering Trainee, you will participate in a 12-month training program where you will be taught to perform the duties of an Air Quality Engineering Specialist. You will receive formal and on-the job training under the supervision of a professional engineer, and your work products will be reviewed prior to being issued or released. Your duties will include carrying out engineering tasks related to the implementation of the Department's Air Quality Plan Approval, facility-wide Title V, Title IV, and State Only Operating Permits, as well as permitting programs for reasonably available control technology in the Northcentral Region. You will handle both complex and simple cases, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and advising prospective applicants on these requirements.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    • Full-time employment
    • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Williamsport.
    • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY


    QUALIFICATIONS
    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    • A bachelor's degree in the field of engineering; or
    • One year of engineering experience, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
    • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
    Condition of Employment:
    • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
