    Description
    Summary:

    The Trainer is responsible for designing and developing high quality training materials for child support practitioners statewide (i.e., FOC, PA, OCS). The Trainer is responsible for presenting child support training courses, workshops and seminars on highly complex child support topics and issues, for each of the system releases, special topic courses, and on-going training. This position is responsible for assisting in the assessment of organizational and individual-level needs and evaluating training effectiveness.

    The Trainer is responsible for maintaining and improving team productivity and efficiencies. The Trainer is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and coordinating training approaches, methodologies, standards, and schedules. All training activities and deliverables need to be completed on time and within budget. The Trainer is also responsible for establishing and maintaining a positive working relationship with other Training Services staff and coordinating training activities with project, DIT and OCS staff.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Primary: Percentage of Time: 70%
    • Designs training materials and delivers training designed to address highly complex system and child support program linkages including topics such as child support financials, case management, and enforcement.
    • Develop training materials and deliver training in various formats (classroom, one-on-one, on-line training, video-conferencing, etc.).
    • Ensure that work assigned meets quality, functional, and technical requirements.
    • Effectively work with team resources to maximize productivity.
    • Manage scope of work performed.
    • Provide timely and accurate reporting of status and issues at all levels.
    • Provide Training Manager and Training Lead with project progress, team status and issues updates.
    • Creates and manages quality user documentation.
    • Designs and prepares training programs that cross areas of program knowledge and require trainer to learn topics beyond typical scope of expertise.
    • Presents training programs to various combinations of trainees and levels of experience among trainees.
    Secondary: Percentage of Time: 30%
    • Maintains team morale through participation of team building efforts.
    • Provide mentoring and professional development guidance to other team members.
    • Manage the timely and accurate reporting of project status and team issues at all levels.
    • Promote open communication with other team members.
    Other Features (e.g., traveling, shift hours, etc.):
    • Requires some overnight travel.

    *Note – Other duties may be assigned as required.

    Education/Experience:
    • 3 years experience in designing, developing, and delivering training for customers of large-scale systems.
    • 3 years experience developing or overseeing the development of training materials and case based scenarios.
    • 2 years experience with various training methodologies in system development projects.
    • 2 years experience working with Michigan child support processes.
    • 2 years experience with MiCSES and the child support program.
    • Associates degree preferred (this can be waived with appropriate work experience).
    Required Skills:
    • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
    • Ability to communicate with and train non-technical users is necessary.
    • Proficiency with MS Office Professional – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
    • Team player; willing to teach and to learn; willing to assist others outside of assigned duties.
    • Able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines.
    • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized.
    • Experience with training design, development, delivery, delivery methods, and methodologies.
