    The Role


    Pilot's Finance Operations team s deliver bookkeeping of unparalleled quality to a portfolio of customers across a range of industries.

    As the Senior Manager for Financial Operations , you will manage a large and growing team of Controllers , Account Managers, and AP and AR specialist s who provide a best in class service to our customers.

    No day is the same and you will need to adeptly maneuver moving from collaborating with your team on a complex client issue to working with our Bookkeeping and AP and AR team s during the monthly-end close process to provide mentorship to the team.

    As an added bonus, the Sales team will also need your teams' expertise to help sell and scope potential client s .

    In a nutshell, our Controller team consists of accounting and finance experts with software superpowers who:

    Manage the customer relationship from scoping through onboarding and ultimately into steady state
    Leverage their industry expertise to recommend process improvements to maximize accuracy and efficiency within our financial statement close process
    Investigat e accounting issues to develop methodology based upon accounting principles
    Manage customer deadlines and expectations in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
    Provide guidance to our internal teams to represent industry best practices based upon accounting principles

    As a Senior Manager on our Finance Operations team, you'll focus your time on:

    Owning your team's portfolio of customers, ensuring that your team delivers a positive customer experience through on-time and high quality monthly financial statements
    Providing guidance and support to c ustomers and your team on complex accounting issues such as new revenue streams, COGS methodology, due diligence during M&A transactions, and audit preparation
    Investigating accounting issues and collaborating with our Controller Services function to develop methodology based upon accounting principles
    Developing members of your team to become highly effective people managers and individual contributors
    Setting clear expectations, providing continuous feedback using data and qualitative feedback , addressing underperformance, and recognizing the individual strengths and contributions of your team members
    Collaborating cross-functionally with other Operations leaders to ensure a cohesive customer experience such as Tax and CFO Services .
    Using your industry expertise to recommend and implement process improvements to maximize accuracy and efficiency within our financial statement close process

    Role requirements

    Senior Managers on our Finance Operations team possess all of the following:


    Required:
    B.S. or M.S. in Accounting or equivalent
    2+ years in public accounting

    and

    10+ total years of work experience
    A

    minimum

    of 5 years of experience in a management role
    Exceptional time management skills
    Excellent written and oral communication skills
    Excellent attention to detail
    A love of problem solving and making teams and processes more efficient
    Delight in providing an exceptional customer experience


    Preferred:
    Experience working in a service delivery model or organization
    Prior experience in E-commerce, Technology, and Professional Services a plus
    C ontinuous accounting environment experience
    Start up or small company experience that requires you to roll up your sleeves to build and identify process improvements, create out of the box ideas to meet client needs, and ability to balance many priorities

    The base pay range target for the role seniority described in this job description is $116,000 - $157,000 in Charlotte, NC.

    Final offer amounts depend on multiple factors such as candidate experience and expertise, geographic location, total compensation, and market data.

    In addition to cash pay, full-time regular positions are eligible for equity, 401(k), health benefits, and other benefits; some of these benefits may be available for part-time or temporary positions.
