- Responsible for performing the physical or administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, and distribution of materials, parts, supplies and equipment.
- Unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of received goods, rejecting unsatisfactory items where necessary.
- Has the ability to stand on their feet for extended periods of time, up to 9 hours
- Holds ability to handle items (up to 45 lbs.) utilizing proper lifting techniques and material handling aids (e.g. pallet jacks, height adjustable carts, etc.) and may operate a forklift upon receipt of internal certification.
- Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped.
- Examines, stocks and distributes materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines.
- Knowledge of safe material handling practices and ability to maintain compliance with Harris specific Environment Health and Safety policy/procedure in regard to material handling.
- Responsible for packaging hazardous materials and preparing required hazmat documentation
- Prepares and packages material for shipment in accordance with MIL-STD 2073
- Knowledge of packaging techniques in accordance with ASTM Best Practices procedures
- Prepares and maintains records of products shipped and tracks shipments.
- Communicates with parties inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret policies, practices, and procedures.
- Ensures that Environment, health, and Safety complies, in accordance with company policy.
- Works to achieve operational targets within job area which has impact on the overall achievement of results for the team.
- Ability to complete work or projects that are of a larger scope, including group cost time savings projects.
- Has the ability to stand on their feet for extended periods of time, up to 9 hours
- Holds ability to handle items (up to 45 lbs.) utilizing proper lifting techniques and material handling aids (e.g., pallet jacks, height adjustable carts, etc.), when required.
- Works autonomously, using experience and knowledge to resolve issues.
- May act as a mentor to lower-level peers and provide guidance on tasks.
- Responsible for reporting and charts on all transportation movement; to include logistics savings, cost type summary, cost per lb., carrier scorecards, etc.
- Communicates with contacts typically within and outside the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement.
- Has ability to structure work within identified boundaries and procedures.
- May work on assignments requiring judgment and initiative.
- Knowledge of packaging techniques in accordance with ASTM Best Practices procedures
- Knowledge of handling, packaging, and preparing classified material for shipment.
- Responsible for PEER training of all new hires in WAWF, ACE/EASE, Internationals, COMSEC, and specialized shipment airway bill processing.
- Responsible for ensuring the team stays compliant with all the licenses and certificates required to perform contractual specialized logistic requirements.
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
- Experience working in a warehouse and/or production environment
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Familiar with MS Office applications, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
