We are seeking a full-time Respiratory Therapist to join our team at the Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI. In this role you will administer and evaluate a wide variety of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of primary pulmonary disease and other medical problems. This is an evening-shift position.Responsibilities:
Complete respiratory care therapeutic procedures, including intermittent positive pressure breathing, chest physiotherapy, postural drainage, nebulizer/aerosol therapy, incentive spirometry, breathing exercises and tracheal irrigation and aspiration
Set up and operate devices, aerosol generators and bedside pulmonary function testing equipment
Administer all inhalant medications
Set-up and perform CPAP, Bi-Pap and non-invasive ventilation procedures
Provide and monitor continuous oxygen and humification therapy and instructs patient on the use of the equipment
Perform equipment check-out procedures prior to use to ensure proper function and adjust all ventilatory parameters, initiate and monitor mechanical ventilation and make adjustment to coordinate the ventilator with the patient
Nebulize fluids, irrigate airway and perform deep tracheal suction and cuff care as needed
Properly perform arterial punctures for blood gas analysis, chest physiotherapy and bronchopulmonary drainage procedures
Participate in Code Blue emergencies by providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation airway management and ventilatory support
Document and report all medical findings and results Qualifications:
Associate degree in an AMA-approved respiratory therapy program
Licensed by the State of Rhode Island as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
Demonstrated knowledge of respiratory care functions, procedures and equipment
1 year of experience as a respiratory therapist preferred Working at Lifespan
