Role Summary

In support of the Department of the Treasury, MetaPhase Consulting will be providing coding and development support to enhance functionality for loan management software applications and to maintain existing applications for the government client.

MetaPhase Consulting is seeking a mid-level Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with 5+ years of experience to join a cross functional agile development team to deliver custom cloud applications in support of a critical federal program. The database administrator will support the development of Java/Spring based applications by engineering, implementing, developing and maintaining the backend Oracle (RDBMS) database systems. The Oracle databases will be hosted on the AWS RDS platform. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring database queries and procedures are efficient and performant. The candidate will also be responsible for the security, backup and restore, redundancy, resiliency, and auditability of the Oracle systems. The candidate will work closely within the agile team (requirements, designers, testers, subject matter experts) and client stakeholders (product owner, end-users) to understand and implement user stories.

What You Will Be Doing

Providing Oracle RDBMS engineering and development support for existing client systems, including maintenance of existing functionality and creating new product features.
Ensuring robust customer support, monitoring, and system stability and availability.
Prioritizing development efforts and performing back refinement directly with client stakeholders on technical modifications and requirements.
Managing database cloud infrastructure for development, test, stage, and production environments, including installation, upgrades, patching.
Providing backup and restore, redundancy, resiliency, and data migration support across application environments.

What We Need From You (Required)

Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience with Oracle RDBMS.
Oracle Database Administration (DBA) skills to include installing, running, upgrading and maintaining Oracle Database products, as well as creating, maintaining, and enhancing schemas, tables, indexes, and triggers, grants, user accounts.
Enforce database security, auditability, and least privilege principles.
Proficient in SQL and the ability to write PL/SQL functions and stored procedures from scratch or debug, maintain or enhance existing code.
Maintain Oracle database performance by conducting performance tuning, analyzing and refining SQL and PL/SQL code, and working with Java developers to ensure proper database interoperability.
Intermediate or advanced competency with collaboration tools such as Atlassian suite (Bamboo, Bitbucket, Confluence, Jira) as well as Microsoft Office, MS Project, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Comfortable developing in a highly collaborative agile development environment (i.e. iterative development, continuous integration, continuous delivery, shared ownership, test-driven development, etc.)
Solid communication skills (written and verbal to various audiences), and collaborative approach with clients, team members, and partners.

Bonus Points (Desired)

Lead software engineer and team lead experience.
Oracle Database Administration Certified Professional.
AWS Certified Database - Specialty or other relevant AWS certification.
Experience with AWS Oracle RDS.
Experience with collaborative software development and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, Azure DevOps.

Primarily remote with some occasional on-site support in the Washington, DC metro area.
