    The GFY team is seeking a Civil Utility Engineer who is interested in being part of an influential work environment.

    This position will primarily report to senior engineers to assist with and perform high-level professional engineering work for water/sewer utility projects.

    The individual ensures compliance with government standards and regulations are in adherence to the design, permitting and construction of all components of the water and wastewater systems.

    Responsibilities of this position will include monitoring regulatory permitting and compliance issues, evaluating water and wastewater treatment operational data and master planning of the overall utility system.


    Responsibilities:
    Conducts feasibility studies of water/sewer utility projects.
    Advises in the planning, construction and maintenance of the water/wastewater distribution systems and facilities.
    Checks easements and other regulations.
    Reviews applications for water/sewer service and/or drainage connections and estimates related costs.

    Reviews plans submitted by engineers, consultants, developers, and contractors to ensure adequacy and accuracy with respect to city, county and federal utilities and environmental protection requirements.

    Inspects utilities facilities to determine compliance with plans and specifications and quality of materials and workmanship.
    Performs minor layout in developing utility data for engineering atlas work.
    Serves as a liaison between utility and engineering operations and coordinates activities of the two.
    Consults with builders, developers and engineers in regard to feasibility, adequacy and cost of projects.
    Responds to complaints from governmental bodies and public entities.
    Assists in the preparation of the department budget and the duties of the above position.

    Experience and Qualifications:
    The ideal candidate for this position will be a Civil Engineer graduate. A State of Florida Professional Engineer License is required.

    Qualifications and abilities shall include the following:
    Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
    Familiarity in the use of CADD tools, such as MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
    3-7 years of experience in the civil engineering field
    Knowledge of the principles and practices of modern civil engineering, pipeline construction and mathematics.
    Ability to make engineering computations, engineering drawings and plans, etc.
    Ability to plan projects, make accurate cost estimates, and to inspect work for compliance with plans and specifications.
    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and plans.

    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Public Works staff, staff of other City Departments and Offices, other governmental entities, vendors, developers, contractors and the public is required.
