    About Us:

    VPT Radiation Laboratory and Test Services, VPT Rad, provides specialist environments and test solutions for evaluating electronics used in aerospace and nuclear applications where ionizing radiation can degrade the service life of the electronics devices.

    Job Overview:

    We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented test engineer to join our team in Chelmsford, Ma. As a Test Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting in radiation effects testing of various electronic components. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or an entry-level professional looking to kickstart their career in electrical engineering.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Test Planning: Collaborate with senior test engineers, quality engineers, and customers to develop test plans and test cases for a wide range of electronic parts including analog, digital, RF & power components
    • Test Infrastructure Development: Collaborate with senior test engineers to develop custom circuits, PCB designs, and software to perform radiation effects tests and automate data acquisition
    • Test Execution: Conduct testing of components in various radiation environments including Total Ionizing Dose, Neutron Displacement Damage, Prompt Dose Rate, and Single Event Effects
    • Test Reporting: Analyze data and write test reports
    • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the improvement of the engineering process and methodologies, making recommendations for efficiency and effectiveness

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
    • Basic knowledge of electronic test equipment (Oscilloscope, DMM, Spectrum Analyzer, etc.)
    • Basic skills in scripting language such as Python or VBA
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 apps
    • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment
    • Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
    • Previous experience with radiation effects testing is preferred but not required; however, the applicant must be comfortable working in radiation areas and with radioactive materials
    • Because of the nature of the position, a US citizen is required

    This is a full-time, permanent position. VPT Rad offers an excellent benefits package upon full-time hire, including health and dental insurance, 401k, disability insurance, life insurance, flexible spending accounts and paid time off. Salary will be discussed with applicant and is dependent upon experience.
