Position Overview
The Deli Clerk is responsible for carrying out tasks assigned by the Deli Manager and/or Assistant Deli Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the Deli Department. The Deli Clerk's duties include assisting customers at the deli counter by providing samples, slicing, weighing, and packaging products for purchase, as well as maintaining shelves, cases, and displays. Additionally, they play a key role in delivering attentive and friendly customer service.

Job Description

• Provide friendly and helpful service to customers, including answering inquiries, giving recommendations, offering samples, and packaging products.
• Wrap products securely with shrink wrap.
• Keep shelves, coolers, and cases well-stocked, clean, and organized by rotating products regularly.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the deli area, including the deli cases, prep area, floors, and coolers.
• Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines set by the Company and relevant authorities.
• Follow instructions from management and assist cooks and kitchen staff as necessary.
• Transport food supplies, equipment, and utensils between storage and work areas.
• Support other departments and collaborate on storewide sales promotions when needed.
• No travel required.

Environment

• Store: Grocery Warehouse (Temperature: 50°F to 90°F).

Skills

• Specialized Knowledge: Ability to understand and follow written or verbal instructions, and deal with challenges in a standardized setting.
• Special Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety guidelines, equipment manuals, and procedure documents; Basic writing skills; Effective communication abilities; Basic math skills; Basic computer proficiency; Normal vision.
• Physical Abilities: Prolonged periods of standing and walking; Regular lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of items weighing up to 65 lbs; Handling, speaking, tasting, smelling, and listening.
• Other: Competence in operating various equipment such as Oven/stove, Microwave, Wrapping Machine, Pizza Dough Press, Fryolator, Slicer, Toaster, Computerized Scales, Food Processor, and Dishwasher.

Years Of Experience

• 0-2 years: Prior experience in retail or deli operations is advantageous.
