    BillionToOne, ranked at the top 5% of Y Combinator companies with $300M+ in funding from prominent VC firms, has developed a DNA molecular counter that increases cfDNA diagnostic resolution by over 1,000 fold.

    BillionToOne's first product, UNITY is the first and only non-invasive prenatal test that can directly screen an unborn baby and assess its risk for common and severe recessive gene disorders and chromosomal abnormalities, as well as fetal sex and fetal antigens, from a single tube of blood from the pregnant mother without paternal testing.

    In 2023, BillionToOne launched two liquid biopsy products that will markedly improve oncology treatment and care.

    With Northstar Select, clinicians will be able to select cancer therapies that will be most effective to each patient based on their individual genetic makeup.

    Northstar Response will enable clinicians to monitor a patient's early response to these cancer therapies, by measuring minute changes in their ctDNA, which can reduce ineffective treatments and unwanted toxicity, lower costs, and substantially improve clinical outcomes.

    We are looking for a Principal Bioinformatics Associate, Oncology to join our growing clinical operations bioinformatics team. The bioinformatics team is responsible for analysis and pipeline automation for our Northstar oncology products. Our sample volume is growing extremely quickly.

    As a Principal Bioinformatics Associate, you will be working with other scientists to scale up our analysis pipeline to analyze tens of thousands of samples.

    The Bioinformatics Associate role is a full-time onsite position in Menlo Park, CA.


    Responsibilities:

    • Leading the development projects for bioinformatics-related software and pipelines
    • Proposing, project managing, and delivering architecture-level changes to bioinformatics software and infrastructure
    • Supporting peripheral teams with their data needs, including but not limited to the Research & Development team, Genetic Counseling team, the Clinical Lab, and the Product Management team
    • Demonstrating high degree of proficiency with a large range of industry-standard software and programming tools and is also expected to independently adapt to new industry standards as needed
    • Developing independently with little supervision from a more senior Scientist.

    Requirements:

    • Master's degree in bioinformatics, computer science, computational biology, data sciences, biophysics, or related computational field.
    • 2 years of experience in bioinformatic operations in a next-generation sequencing clinical lab.
    • 2 years of experience with either performing quality control analysis on genomic sequencing data of clinical samples; managing and maintaining sample logistics using a LIMS (laboratory information management system); managing and maintaining quality events associated with bioinformatic operations; or performing clinical assay validations.
    • 1 year of experience working with using Django, Flask, or other web framework applications that involve communicating via APIs (Application programming interfaces).
    • 6 months of experience with relational database querying languages, such as PostgreSQL, SQLite, mySQL, etc.
    • Must successfully complete competency-based interview.
    • Telecommuting is permitted from within a normal commuting distance. Employee must report to HQ 50% of working time.

    At BillionToOne, we are proud to offer a combination of a (1) base pay range (actual amount offered is based experience and salary/equity options split that the candidate chooses) (2) generous equity options offering, on top of (3) industry leading company benefits (free healthcare options, 401k match, very generous fully paid parental leave etc.).

    For this position, the base pay range is: $109,782-$140,000 per year.
