    Job Description

    The Substance Use Recovery Specialist will implement substance use recovery programming for dually diagnosed adults living in the organization's apartments.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Assesses tenants' mental health, substance use, and independent living needs by collecting pre-assessment surveys from referred tenants.
    2. Supports the establishment of tenant-driven recovery activities and groups within the building using the Harm Reduction model and Housing First principles.
    3. Liaises with community resources to increase tenants' knowledge and ability to access recovery services and activities.
    4. Maintains a service provider referral network to identify and establish effective relationships with agencies providing recovery and treatment services.
    5. Prepares and submits reports to document outcomes and effectiveness of services.

    Requirements:

    To be successful in this position, the Substance Use Recovery Specialist must have:

    • One year of professional experience working with adults with disabilities in a residential setting, providing substance use counseling.
    • Sound judgment and excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Familiarity with Harm Reduction and Housing First principles.
    • Ability to work with diverse populations to promote independent living skills.
    • Knowledge of public benefit and social service systems.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft software programs.
    • A valid California driver's license.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Certification as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor from an accredited CA organization (CAADE, CADTP, CCAPP).
    • Bachelor's degree in social services.
