    BASIC FUNCTIONSOrganize and lead project teams to meet the required goals related to reducing waste and variation in the Achilles manufacturing process.

    This is a project management-based responsibility with the main intent to reduce variation and waste in the most economical and efficient way possible.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSUse techniques like lean manufacturing, lean Six Sigma, and value stream mapping to organize the teams and meet the goals of the projects.

    This will include attending trainings and seminars and getting certifications in at least Six Sigma green belt.
    Track and report the progress of each project to the sponsor or black belt on a regular basis. And, create and present reports and presentations to the teams and upper management.
    Use a standard method of tracking the stages of the projects. The basic method will include define, measure, analyze, implement, and control or a version of this.
    Analyze the data using statistical tools like quantum or Minitab to identify the issue and predict the best solution.
    Follow the prescribed schedule and get the tollgates approved before moving to the next segment of the project.
    Coordinate the team meetings and facilitate the project time lines and action items to meet the deadlines. This includes being responsible for keeping the teams on track.

    If the project timelines become overdue or if roadblocks are encountered the sponsor will be informed and a plan will be created to get the project back on track.

    Make recommendation for the selection of the team members for each project.

    Evaluate the control stage of the projects to make sure the results are as predicted, if needed preform the analysis, implement and control steps again.

    Repeat until the project is completed.

    Help management identify potential projects, gather the initial data to for selected target projects, help identify the projects intent and goals.

    This will be needed to complete the scope and fill out the project charter.

    One of the main goals is to design quality into the solution and not rely on inspection to reduce variation.

    This will be done by using the various tools in Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and other techniques to find the most effective and efficient method for implementation.

    Propose and champion new equipment or processes that would help Achilles become more efficient and reduce variation and waste. Usually this will be part of the project process and it will be supported by data.

    Some of the documents and techniques required are the project scope sheet, project charter sheet, SIPOC, input maps, C& E matrix, FMEA, and the tollgate check list for each stage.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education/Training: 4-year Engineering Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other related fields

    Experience:
    2-5 years of Manufacturing engineering or related work experience is preferred. Six Sigma, lean manufacturing or other project management training is preferred.


    Skills/Aptitude:
    Effective oral and written communication, computer literate. Mathematical skills, excellent inter-personal skills.


    Working Conditions:
    Office, factory, and laboratory environment. Overnight travel could be required.
