Job Summary
The Program Coordinator for the Adult Medical Daycare Program oversees the center's daily operations, ensuring a supportive and engaging environment for all clients. Working in partnership with the Activities Assistant and other staff, the Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities designed to enhance clients' physical, emotional, and social well-being. The Coordinator carefully monitors client participation, adapts activities to accommodate different levels of ability, and assists with personal care when necessary. Maintaining open communication with healthcare staff, caregivers, and families is central to the role, ensuring each client's preferences and health requirements are respected. Additionally, the Coordinator keeps accurate records of attendance and progress, contributing to the overall quality and safety of the program. Through these efforts, the Program Coordinator helps foster an environment where participants can thrive and achieve their individual goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the daily operations of the practice and overseeing administrative activities.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
- Develop and implement a monthly calendar of activities that includes arts and crafts, music, games, exercise, educational sessions, and social events.
- Assess participants' interests, abilities, and medical conditions to design appropriate and enjoyable activities.
- Support clients with daily living activities, including mobility, hygiene, and mealtime assistance, following safety and privacy protocols.
- Monitor clients throughout the day to ensure their safety and comfort, promptly reporting any concerns to nursing or healthcare staff.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and progress of participants.
- Encourage and facilitate social interaction, group and individual activities, among clients to foster a sense of community and belonging.
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure activities align with therapeutic goals and accommodate health restrictions.
- Organize special events, outings, and guest speakers, ensuring accessibility and safety.
- Purchase and maintain supplies and equipment for activities.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding daily activities and any changes in clients' condition.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and regulations related to client care, confidentiality, and workplace safety.
- Train and supervise Program Assistants and new hires .
- Reliable automobile with valid driver's license and insurance
- Other duties as assigned by the Employer.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; LPN or CNA/CMT certification is preferred.
- 3 years experience working with older adults, individuals with disabilities, or in a healthcare setting is an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, and excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing client needs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Background check required.
Work Environment
The position is based in a medical daycare setting, requiring physical stamina and the ability to assist clients with varying mobility levels. The role involves frequent interaction with clients, team members, and families, and may require flexible hours to accommodate program schedules. Must be available to work weekends. Applicants must possess a valid, current driver's license and reliable transportation.
Reports To
Medical Daycare Program Director.
Compensation
Compensation is determined based on experience, skills, education, and qualifications.
