    THE ROLE

    You will work with a talented multidisciplinary team of engineers to help design cutting edge robotic systems and electromechanical hardware for clients in a wide variety of industries with applications on earth and outer space.

    As these systems come to fruition you will be responsible for bringing them online and running them through their paces.


    While being software focused, the ideal candidate should have basic familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems, a passion for doing hands on work, and be unafraid to get their hands dirty from time to time.

    The work will require you to be adaptable, eager to learn, and ready and able to take on a new challenge as you will be frequently hopping between projects in completely different industries.

    One thing is for certain, this job will not be boring.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Work in a multidisciplinary engineering team to implement software and command and control algorithms for both existing and newly developed robotic hardware
    Bring new robotic systems and electromechanical hardware to life
    Develop GUIs and command and control interfaces for robotic systems and hardware
    Work with embedded systems engineers to integrate and troubleshoot a wide variety of sensors, motor controllers, perception systems, and electronics
    Design, implement, unit-test, and integrate production-quality software


    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
    Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or related discipline applicable to robotics
    6+ years professional work experience
    4+ years developing software for spaceflight hardware
    Strong programming skills in C++ and Python with good coding, commenting, and documentation practices
    Working knowledge of ROS and experience with ROS hardware integration
    Understanding of motion planning, control systems, inverse kinematics, perception, navigation, and/or simulation
    Proven track record of understanding, developing, and applying algorithms to robotic systems
    Experience with full life-cycle library and application development, Git version control, software testing, and continuous integration
    Development experience in the Linux environment
    Motivation to learn whatever knowledge you are missing to get the job done right
    Willing to travel occasionally to assist clients
    Proof of US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is required to comply with ITAR regulations.


    PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
    Hands on experience bringing up and developing electromechanical hardware and robotic systems
    Experience writing software using Test Driven Development practice
    8+ years developing software for spaceflight hardware
    MoveIt, Gazebo, OpenRave and similar robotic libraries
    Experience working with I/O technologies and embedded systems such as: communication protocols (EtherCAT, Ethernet, UART, etc.), actuators, motors, motor controllers, sensors (incremental and absolute encoders, analog sensors, IMUs, etc)
    Ability to work well on a team and take full responsibility for individual tasks which may be open ended
