- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations, monitoring vital signs, and obtaining medical histories.
- Formulate and implement individualized care plans in tandem with physicians and healthcare team members.
- Administer medications via various routes, adhering to stringent safety protocols.
- Provide essential nursing interventions, such as wound care, managing pain, ostomy care, and administering respiratory therapies.
- Monitor and interpret telemetry data to detect and address potential cardiac issues.
- Educate patients and their families on conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies.
- Document all nursing care activities with accuracy and detail in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Ensure patient rights are respected and provide care that is compassionate and respectful.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to patient emergencies, including participating in code blue events.
- Collaborate with a broad healthcare team to offer coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain clear and compassionate communication with patients and families.
- Ensure continuity of care through concise handoff reports during shift changes.
- Engage in interdisciplinary team rounds to review patient progress and adapt care plans as needed.
- Keep up-to-date with licensure requirements and pursue ongoing education in med-surg and telemetry nursing.
- Take part in quality improvement processes and the refinement of patient care protocols.
- Act as a preceptor or mentor to new nurses, offering guidance and support.
- Active RN license in the state of Washington.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); however, Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) holders with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
- 1-2 years' experience in a med-surg or telemetry unit preferred.
- Deep understanding of adult medical-surgical conditions and treatments.
- Strong critical thinking, assessment, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and work under pressure.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
- Preferred: Certification in a related specialty (e.g., ACLS, BLS).
