    Description
Job Description Professional Land Surveyor RPLS/PLS

Sequence has been exclusively retained and is currently seeking an industrious and dedicated Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) to join our client's organization, a widely respected regional survey firm with local offices here in Fort Worth and Dallas Texas Area.

This key position is charged with management and development of the mid-sized branch operation (12+ crews and 28 internal drafting and survey personnel) as well as client relationship management, staff direction, and hands on project work.

Reporting directly to company executive management, this role would ideally be a key position for a talented upcoming surveyor, an experienced individual, or even an individual with an already existing private practice looking to find a long-term home with a well-established company that values their abilities and contribution.

This position not only requires a full understanding of land surveying and development processes, but industry experience with residential and commercial undertakings.

So, familiarity with the survey process in connection with residential construction, including, but not limited to lot stake, topographic, construction lay-out, form surveys, property envelopes, slab/form surveys with elevations, final improvement survey, and grade survey.

While other aspects of surveying (long linear or pipeline projects as an example) is great experience, the role requires adapting to more traditional residential or commercial activities.

    Often ones with quicker turnaround.

From an operational side, the role is more technical and project management in nature. Position has little in the way of needing to do more mundane day-to-day operational management or administrative activities. Pure office and project survey work.

We are looking for more of a focus on in-depth understanding of requirements with things like plats, plat construction and working closely with builders and title companies.

From a project prospective, this includes being charged with following the contract scope of work while carefully managing staff time, project schedule, and budget working in-house and for the field.

Known chiefly for producing outstanding technical work products for private and public sector clients, the company is now the regional leader offering Commercial & Residential Boundary Surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, Topographic Surveys, Construction Control and Staking, FEMA Elevation Certificates, Permitting and Research, Built Surveys, Plat and Legal Descriptions, Entitlement Surveys, etc.

Daily job responsibilities would generally include:

Reviewing surveys upon their completion, and signing off on documents; preparing and signing elevation certificates; reviewing plot and site plans; coordination with field crews (over 12 in-house and as many as 10 contract crews at any time) from the office, with any day to day issues; and working with the draftsmen to resolve any of their day to day issues or to give direction to efforts.

Because our client is very embedded with their customers the RPLS would be charged as needed with addressing issues that construction supervisors have as they relate to the survey.

They also offer time to instruct and train crew chiefs when necessary, in the office and/or in the field.

Provide project management and oversight for boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, plat and legal descriptions, topographic surveys, entitlement surveys, construction control and staking, and condominium mapping.

Carefully delineate the boundaries of interest using on-site surveys and records found in land offices to write the legal description of a parcel.

Produce detailed information (subsequently analyzed by clients, engineers, planners, builders and cartographers).
Ensure that surveys filed and recorded in public repositories such as county clerks' offices are public records documents.
Keep current and remain up-to-date with new and emerging technology.
Interact with customers internally and clients externally, particularly to discuss specific project requirements and business development.
Think creatively to resolve practical planning and development problems.

Ability to use computer-aided design (CAD) and other IT software to interpret and present information.

Advanced CAD drafting can be done in-house by CAD staff and/or supported from Headquarters or other branch operations (the company has over 28 survey tech/cad drafters in-house).

Familiarity with AutoCAD; Carlson software a plus to consideration. TopCon field instruments and Tesla data-collectors would be helpful.

The ideal candidates experience will include several years working as a Licensed Land Surveyor, having worked on projects beginning with a title report and contract, and will be expected to have the knowledge/experience reviewing with the project surveyor for a clear understanding of the project deliverables and a tentative plan / strategy to be proposed by the project surveyor prior to commencing with the project.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an innovative and progressive organization.

A place where a motivated, self-starter interested in advancing their career and able/willing to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that is dominated by realistic expectations would find a long-term home.

Our client offers superior advancement opportunities, and a very competitive salary and benefit package, including medical/dental/vision/prescription; vacation and sick leave (PTO); paid overtime; professional membership fees and professional registration fees.
