    The State of Iowa, Department of Management (DOM), Division of Information Technology (DoIT), is looking for a highly motivated candidate to join our Application Development team as an

    Information Technology Specialist 2, Junior Developer.


    In this role you will join a high-performing innovative team whose work is driven by making a difference in the everyday lives of Iowans and improving the effectiveness of government.


    The selected candidate will work directly with our highly-skilled enterprise application development team including solution architects, senior developers, DevOps engineers, and agile delivery teams.

    You'll also have the opportunity to work in a variety of languages.

    Our primary stack is .Net, SQL, Bootstrap and C#, we are also developing new solutions with .Net Core and do provide support for older languages as well.


    In addition to developing new/enhancing existing solutions, this role will have the opportunity to contribute to our Production Support team which supports hundreds of applications.

    candidates for this position must reside in the state of Iowa at the time of starting the role.

    Support, enhance and develop software
    Prepare and modify support documentation
    Meet with customers to understand their needs
    Cross-train with staff across multiple disciplines to ensure systems are functioning as expected
    Grow and maintain skills through research, reading and training
    Identify, propose and evaluate alternative methods of product development, adoption of new technologies, and improvement of work practices within team
    Represent the DoIT in a professional manner

    Background check requirements:


    After a conditional offer of employment has been made, and as the final step in the hiring process, candidates for this position will be subject to a background investigation, which may include but may not be limited to a verification of a candidate's education, previous employment/work history, contact of personal references, motor vehicle records, and a criminal history check (including through Federal, State, or Local criminal justice agencies).

    Information gathered as part of such background investigation will be treated as confidential to the extent permitted by Iowa Code section 22.7, 8B.4A, and other applicable laws, rules, and regulations; provided that, to the extent permitted by applicable law, such information shall be available to candidates upon request.

    Experience equal to two years of full-time work: operating a multi-job computer; installing, operating and coordinating computer based networks; installing/maintaining database management systems; developing business application processes; developing/operating system programs; installing/maintaining personal computers, Local Area Networks and/or servers; managing operating systems; developing/ delivering information management training; providing Information Technology (IT) customer service; or designing/administering Internet sites; OR
    completion of an approved curriculum/specialized training program developed and implemented by or in cooperation with state government; OR
    twelve semester hours of accredited post high school education in one of the specialty areas listed in the first clause above; OR
    certification by an authorized educational institution/major computer or software producer in an area directly related to one of the specialty areas listed in the first clause above may be substituted for one year of the required experience; OR
    an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting thirty semester hours of education for six months of experience; OR
    employees with

    current


    continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to six months of full-time work as an Information Technology Specialist 1.
