    Vision Rehabilitation Therapist

    The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) offers a career opportunity within the Disability Employment and Transitions Division, Blind and Low Vision Services Bureau.

    If you enjoy working with people and have a passion for assisting individuals with disabilities, this role is for you. You will be responsible for evaluating the needs of individuals with blindness or low vision to determine the services, equipment, and training required for independent living and employment. Your duties will include assessing low vision needs, developing plans for adaptive skills training, providing instruction for independent living and employment, and managing an Older Blind caseload which involves eligibility determination and service evaluation.

    Qualifications for this Role

    • Knowledge of human behavior, psychological aspects of disability, and understanding of vision-related conditions.
    • Proficiency in visual rehabilitation therapy techniques and assistive technology for visually impaired individuals.
    • Capability to teach adults and interpret medical/psychological data accurately.
    • Effective interpersonal skills to maintain relationships with team members, consumers, and the public.
    • Ability to manage budgets, caseload, and organizational tasks efficiently.
    • Minimum qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
    • Other combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
    • Fully qualified candidates have:
    • Master's degree in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy.
    • Six months of relevant experience working with individuals with blindness or low vision.
