    Supervisor Floater

    Position Purpose:
    Maintain hatchery production running efficiently and well-organized while supervising employees.

    The Egg Room Supervisor Floater is responsible for:
    • Acts as a back-up supervisor for the Egg Room Supervisor.
    • Receives eggs from shipment and counts the order to be input into the system;
    • Organizes the shipment order.
    • Develops and completes set sheets, which determine where the egg room personnel are to load eggs;
    • Performs egg audits and checks for deficiencies;
    • Organizes and fills out proper documents for receiving and shipping inventories;
    • Informs egg farms of packing requirements and ensures they have proper egg packing supplies as directed by the Hatchery Manager;
    • Good math skills are essential;
    • Good computer skills are required;
    • Excellent written and verbal communication necessary;
    • Follow and enforce all of the company's rules and regulations for bio security, animal welfare and safety;
    • Work with Hatchery Manager and other supervisors in the hatchery to organize and prioritize responsibilities for efficient operations;
    • Assists in loading shipments;
    • Have the ability to push, bend, stoop, squat, pull and lift 50 lbs or more;
    • Perform the duties of the job while constantly moving and using hands, occasionally lifting objects while being exposed to dust, cold, humidity, heat, chemicals and fumes;
    • Work an extended work day, if needed;

    The Back Crew (Hatch) Supervisor Floater is responsible for:
    • Acts as a back-up supervisor for the Hatch Supervisor.
    • Developing and ensuring implementation of Pull Order schedules;
    • Completing Hatchability Paperwork and submitting paperwork to the office;
    • Assisting as needed to keep production running;
    • Preparing the Pull Order for the following day;
    The Service Room Supervisor Floater is responsible for:
    • Acts as a back-up supervisor for the Service Room Supervisor.
    • Oversees the Service Room employees to ensure they are performing their job to company standards;
    • Calibrates and sets up the machines at the beginning of the day;
    • Checks the medicine orders;
    • Ensures the PSP and MCP machines are ready for use at the beginning of the day;
    • Performs a quality control analysis on birds labeled as defective by the PSP or MCP machines;
    • Assists in cleaning the medicine and Service Room;
    • May repair the machines if capable.
    Essential Duties for the Supervisor Floater include:
    • Follow all of the company's rules and regulations for bio security, animal welfare and safety;
    • Supervise, lead, and guide employees to successfully achieve the company's goal of hatching and transferring as many poults as possible;
    • Successfully train employees to perform their job duties accurately and in a timely manner;
    • Resolve conflicts between employees in a fair and effective way;
    • Demonstrate good organization skills;
    • Perform any of the jobs in the department as needed;
    • Work around humidity, dust, chemicals and fumes and lift up to 50 pounds frequently;
    • Be willing to work an extended work day or additional days as needed;
    • Being flexible and able to act as back-up for all department supervisors at the hatchery;
    • Successfully leading and monitoring others;
    Demonstrating patience while working with and monitoring others;

    Principal Accountabilities:
    1. Follow the directives of the Hatchery Manager.
    2. Successfully train, lead, supervise and manage up to 50 employees, ensuring they are performing their job up to company standards;
    3. Complete quality control checks on poults;
    4. Assist with clean-up of medicine room and service room;
    5. Prepare and set up service room machines and medicine orders;
    6. Maintain a clean and safe work environment;
    7. Follow all company regulations pertaining to bio security, animal welfare and safety.
    8. Understand that the responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the company.
    9. Demonstrate effective time management to record and input new egg shipments into the system.
    10. Willingness to work a varied schedule where some weekends will be required.
    Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

    Requirements:
    • High School diploma is preferred;
    • Acceptable Background check;
    • Prior experience in a hatchery;
    • Previous experience in a supervisory role preferred;
    • Ability to communicate verbally and listening with others - Bilingual Spanish speaking ability desired;
    • Ability to work under pressure;
    • Ability to work successfully in a team environment;
    • Ability to perform job duties while wearing Personal Protective Equipment required of the position.
