    Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr.

    This role is part of the advanced development team that will be developing next generation technology and architecture for propulsion and power generation machinery for US Navy submarines.

    The Magnetic Bearing Lead Engineer will lead a team of experience Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and junior engineers in electromagnetics and design to explore, design, develop, and test new magnetic bearing technology and architecture.

    This position requires the ability to lead a multidiscipline team, manage and complete tasks within budget and schedule, and turn ideas into reality.


    Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 3 years of relevant experience; or a PhD in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with no relevant experience.

    5+ years of experience in Electric Machine design and analysis.
    Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.


    Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 9 years of relevant experience; or Master's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 7 years of relevant experience; or a PhD in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 4 years of relevant experience.

    5+ years of experience in Electric Machine design and analysis.
    Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

    STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Degree.
    7+ years of electrical machine and/or inverter / drive engineering experience.
    Experience with software for system evaluation such as Matlab Simulink, Simplorer, etc.

    Electromagnetic analysis experience with FEA tools such as ANSYS Maxwell, Altair Flux 2D/3D, or similar type of electromagnetic analysis software.

    Experience with electric machines for marine propulsion applications.
    Experience with naval nuclear propulsion programs.
