    Job Summary

    2nd Press Operator will perform numerous machine operations to support the pressroom and total plant operations. Responsible for completing assigned tasks associated with press operation and maintenance. Responsible for assisting lead pressmen to ensure the quality of the finished product.

    Requirements:

    Roles And Responsibilities

    • Ensures ink fountains are maintained and filled and water is at its proper PH level.
    • Monitors cut-off and fold during production.
    • Continually inspects the printed material for quality and alerts 1st Operator of any problems.
    • Assists in handling plates and blankets on cylinders during the make ready process.
    • Maintains ink levels.
    • Lubricates (grease and oil) the press equipment on a daily basis.
    • Lift bundles lb stacks of printed material off the delivery end of the press when necessary.
    • Assist in press wash-ups, routine maintenance and minor repairs on the press as needed.
    • Works in a safe manner at all times. Comply with work and safety rules.
    • Responds to communications concerning any quality concerns.
    • Maintain level of housekeeping that complies with company standards. Keeps area around the press clean and clutter free.
    • Must have adequate reasoning skills - must be able to apply common sense and understanding to job related duties.
    • Must be team oriented - a team player, willing to work for the good of the total team.
    • Must have reliable transportation; be able to workdays, nights, weekdays, weekends, holidays and willing to work overtime when needed.

    Preferred Skills

    • Ability to work in a busy work center performing multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Must be willing to work nights, weekends and overtime.
    • Must be at work on time as scheduled.
    • Mathematical Skills - ability to add subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Compute rates, discounts, count inventory, and percentages. Calculate volumes, weights and measures.
    • Work Planning, Organization & Execution - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

    Basic Qualifications

    • H.S. diploma or equivalent, associate's degree preferred.
    • Experience in printing industry preferred.
