    Duties :
    This position is open to engineers of varying levels of experience (from entry-level through highly-experienced). Actual assigned duties will be commensurate with skill level. For a comprehensive list of duties, please see the duty statement.


    A summary is provided here:


    The incumbent performs structural analysis, design, and prepares plans and specifications for a variety of projects including buildings, bridges, spillways, hydraulic structures, radial gates, intakes and miscellaneous water-related facilities, as well as prepares designs for modifications to existing facilities.

    Additional duties include performing engineering studies and analyses of existing and proposed facilities, site inspections, and engineering support for projects under construction.

    Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature. We manage California's water resources, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way.

    Candidates will be evaluated based on their relative ability as demonstrated by the quality and extent of their knowledge and experience in the structural engineering field-especially in the duties mentioned above.

    Structural undergraduate and graduate-level classes directly related to the duties of this position.
    Undergraduate special projects in the structural field, such as senior project, engineering competitions, etc.
    Finite element modeling experience - list programs used and explanation of experience.
    Knowledge and/or experience with construction specifications.
    Experience providing engineering support during construction phase.
    Experience providing structural engineering design services for design and construction projects.
    Attention to detail as reflected in the application package.
