- Events Coordination - Logistics Planning:
- Coordinates logistics for all LEC events including menu selection and banquet order reviews; production and shipping of event materials; inventory and maintenance of event supplies and equipment; distribution and upkeep of LEC event calendar; rooming and meal list management; event marketing assistance; communication with attendees on important details; fiscal responsibility, and budget monitoring.
- On-Site Events Execution:
- Coordinates set up and break down of meeting space during events; ensures accurate and timely delivery of food and beverages; acts as a liaison between LEC and venue staff; oversees junior staff; resolves any issues that may arise; maintains confidentiality of information gained during meetings; and organizes internal office events.
- Sourcing:
- Researches venues with the Associate Director of Events; negotiates rates with vendors; reviews and edits contracts; disseminates contract details to divisions after signing.
- Post-Event Duties:
- Conducts after-action reports as needed; ensures accurate billing after each meeting; reviews and codes invoices and reimbursements.
- Performs other related duties:
- Ensures database information integrity compiled by event staff; assists in office management duties as required.
- Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Previous experience in the events or hospitality industry (typically 2+ years);
- Experience in managing events from start to finish; managing virtual events; excellent communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; project management skills; ability to prioritize and manage responsibilities; collaborative and customer experience-oriented; experience with event management software; event related designations preferred.
- Higher education event experience;
- Proficiency in Cvent, Canva, and WordPress; solution-oriented and proactive.

The Law & Economics Center (LEC) of the George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School is a national center for research and education that focuses on the timely and relevant economic analysis of legal and public policy issues. The LEC provides dynamic training programs in law and economics to various audiences including federal and state judges, state attorneys general, congressional staff members, academics, and other legal professionals.
The Event Coordinator is responsible for supporting the LEC's Associate Director of Events in handling logistical elements of numerous education programs with an appreciation for well-educated audiences that the LEC and the Law School serves. This role involves executing professional and polished events with excellence. The Event Coordinator is expected to travel independently for events, both domestic and international, and work an irregular schedule including some late nights and weekends.
