The Analytics and Materials Characterization group in Iselin NJ is part of the Catalyst Research and Development department We provide direct analytical support to catalyst research and manufacturing platforms including environmental refining chemical solar cell and battery materials This position is for a highly motivated Microscopist/Material Scientist to work as part of an electron microscopy group involving the characterization of catalysts their precursors associated assembly components and related materials Responsibilities include but are not limited to Operating maintaining Microscopy instrumentation including HR FE SEM High Resolution Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy VP SEM Variable Pressure Scanning Electron Microscopy ancillary attachments EDS Energy Dispersive X ray Spectroscopy WDS Wavelength Dispersive X Ray Spectroscopy STEM Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope image analyses software suite Supporting other microscopy areas like EPMA Electron Probe Microanalyzer TEM Transmission electron microscopy Collaborating with research scientists engineers manufacturing associates on new product development fundamentals understanding manufacturing support strong catalyst chemistry knowledge Interpreting results writing reports sharing information high degree accuracy fast paced analytical chemistry laboratory Developing new microscopy capabilities investigative strategies innovative microscopy methods support knowledge product development Preparing wide variety of sample types for SEM STEM analyses vacuum evaporation systems microtome trimmer tripod polishing etching electro-polishing plus Qualifications PhD materials science physics engineering chemistry related degree 1+ years analysis laboratory experience preferably industry OR MS degree materials science physics engineering chemistry related degree 3+ years relevant industrial experience BS degree minimum 5+ years relevant industrial experience Strong theoretical practical understanding EM technologies extensive hands hands solving complex materials problems primarily FE SEM VP SEM STEM TEM EPMA Solid materials characterization heterogeneous catalysis knowledge Ability participate leadership level multi disciplinary teams Hands experience experimental design EM methods Knowledge crystallography diffraction techniques EBSD electron backscatter diffraction plus Related AEM equipment methodologies plus Expected work independently minimum supervision part team Strong organizational time management multitasking skills Demonstrated track record systematic approach problem solving critical thinking skills +
