    Description

    Position Summary: Leads and provides strategic direction for the Primary Care Team and manages the daily patient care operations of the Team. Diagnoses and treats patients through the development of treatment plans, ordering tests, interpreting imaging and lab test results, and administering appropriate medication as needed. Facilitates internal and external collaboration and serves on internal medical committees as assigned.

    Critical Tasks:

    • Diagnoses and treats patients within the clinic by creating treatment plans, ordering appropriate tests, interpreting imaging and lab test results, and ordering and administering appropriate medications and referrals.
    • Establishes and promotes strategic direction for the Primary Care Team in order to uphold the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
    • Manages the daily patient care operations of the Primary Care Team in order to ensure the effective delivery of high quality patient care.
    • Works collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders in order to recommend, develop, and implement methods and procedures for the effective coordination of patient care services and activities.
    • Facilitates involvement in team planning and operations in order to maintain working relationships with providers, nursing staff, and clerical employees.
    • Prepares reports to be presented to the Primary Care Physician Director as required.
    • Monitors students progress as they move through the department and the effectiveness of their provider mentors.
    • Collaborates with other medical and specialty areas in order to obtain consultative services for cases that require a multi-disciplinary approach. Also provides clinical leadership and consultation for other professionals in various therapeutic interventions.
    • Serves on medical committees within the enterprise as appropriate.
    • Performs other projects or duties as required.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Doctoral degree in Medicine, MD or DO required.
    • Completion of an approved residency program required.
    • Current and valid State of Arizona license to practice medicine. If licensed in other states, must possess Arizona license within 1 year of hire.
    • Board Certification or ability to obtain certification within 2 years of hire.
    • 3 years of clinical experience.
    • Experience in a leadership or management role preferred.
    • Current or eligible for Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) licensure.
    • Current and continuing BLS Training and Certifications.
    • Demonstrates ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.
