    POSITION: Part-Time Literacy Instructor, Afterschool Program

    REPORTS TO: Senior Program Manager, Afterschool Program

    POSITION TYPE: Part-Time, Contractual

    SALARY: $30/Hour HOURS: Approximately 17.5 Hours/Week

Amigos For Kids moves its mission forward through its education, awareness, and advocacy programs aimed at helping families in under-resourced communities thrive.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Reporting to the Senior Program Manager,Afterschool Program, the Part-Time Literacy Instructor is responsible for the delivery and assessment of the literacy program for grades 1st through 5th, Monday – Friday between the hours of 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Provide input on instructional materials and strategies for the literacy program
    • Collaborate with supervisor and afterschool counselors in scheduling literacy instruction for multiple grade levels in accordance with funder contractual obligations
    • Create lesson plans for literacy instruction
    • Provide literacy instruction to students in the afterschool program in grades 1st through 5th
    • Conduct student assessments (Oral Reading Fluency – ORF for grades 1-3 and MAZE for grades 4-5) to gauge progress and determine alignment with expected program outcomes

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor Degree in Education required
    • Valid State of Florida teaching certificate required
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience teaching required
    • Experience teaching elementary school preferred
    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Ability to frequently stand, walk, stoop, sit, crouch, bend, speak, and hear.
    • Ability to engage in physical activity with members without limitation.
    • Ability to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects between 10 and 20 pounds.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • This position requires a person who can work with many distractions, interruptions and

    still accomplish their objectives and meet established deadlines

    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    • Flexible work hours required consistent with out of school time programming
