    Job Description

    As a Fabricator/Welder, you'll fulfill a critical role in building best-in-class Brix boats. You'll work closely with the team, building vessels and their components in conformance with design specifications, company quality standards, and regulatory requirements. You'll collaborate with others to meet project milestones and continuously improve.

    Level I pay range: $18-21/hour; Level II pay range: $21-28/hour; Level III pay range: $28-34/hour.

    Complete layout, cutting, fitting/assembly, weld preparation, MIG or TIG welding, and finishing to manufacture vessels to specifications.

    • Layout, cut, and fit pipe, plate, fittings, and flanges to build jigs, frames, machinery foundations, hulls, stiffeners, hatches, tanks, deck components, superstructures, etc.
    • Clamp, tack-weld, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
    • MIG or TIG weld aluminum components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead).
    • Operate hand tools related to the job, including: saws, grinders, sanders, etc.
    • Operate equipment related to the job, including: forklifts, hoists, slings, press brakes, shear machine, hydraulic rolls.
    • Use tape measures, levels and other inspection/testing to verify outputs conform with design specifications, company quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Wear appropriate PPE and demonstrate safe fabricating/fitting/welding practices. Comply with safety standards required by the company and regulatory bodies.
    • Obtain and maintain proper workplace training and certifications.
    • Participate in regular/required meetings.
    • Complete work within specified deadlines set by the Supervisor.
    • Other duties as required.

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED. Technical certificates and/or professional certifications (e.g. welding) will be considered an asset.
    • 2+ years aluminum fabrication and/or welding experience (boat-building preferred).
    • Knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of aluminum fabrication/welding.
    • Ability to read and interpret plans and drawings.
    • Basic mathematical skills required in manufacturing environment.
    • Must be 18 years of age and eligible to work in the US.

    Additional information

    Environment
    Work is performed in a metal manufacturing facility. Noise level can vary from moderate to high. The use of PPE (e.g. hand/hearing/eye protection) is required. Continuous physical effort is required (standing, walking, stooping, climbing stairs, grasping/reaching above head height, lifting/moving items up to 50 pounds individually or 75 pounds with assistance). The employee is occasionally required to work from a ladder and/or scaffolding.
