    Operating Technician
    • No Experience Required. We Will Provide Training.
    Overview:

    The Operating Technician works with other Operating Technicians in the total operation of the mixing, extruding, and packaging equipment in the entire facility. The Operating Technician operates equipment in the production and packaging process from the dryer bin conveyors through the palletizers. The Operating Technician keeps equipment sufficiently supplied with production components and materials, maintains the cleanliness of the line, relieves other Operating Techs, operates the line safely, and in conjunction with other Operating Techs, operates the line within established quality and productivity standards.

    Basic Minimum Requirements:
    1. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with peers, supervisors, and maintenance personnel. The ability to read, understand, and follow verbal and written operating instructions.
    2. Ability to learn/perform basic data entry into process control computers.
    3. Ability to work overtime, including weekends and holidays as required.
    Physical Requirements:
    1. Requires sufficient physical ability to walk, stand, and sit; handling/fingering, typing, cleaning, scraping, and using a computer.
    2. Physical capability of moderate to heavy lifting, climbing stairs and ladders, working on platforms, handling flexible hoses, and handling 50 pounds or more.
    3. Work is performed in an internal plant environment in hot temperatures; and exposure to noise, dust, and odors.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Performs all duties in a safe manner, utilizing current safety practices, personal protective equipment, and reporting procedures. Reviews all pertinent safety material before conducting new assignments.
    • Uses verbal and/or written information to produce a quality product. Review production schedules to help coordinate accurate production runs. Receives shift instructions from the Team Leader, and reviews the state and needs of the line at the start of their shift.
    • Orders, maintains, replenishes, and returns production materials. Uses material handling equipment as required and as necessary.
    • Checks, controls, operates, adjusts, replenishes, cleans, and clears jams for any equipment on the packaging line, such as the scale, plodder, cutter, press, carton, wrapper, case packer, case sealer, palletiser, and conveyor systems.
    • The Operating Technician and other personnel on the line work as a team to solve any operation/production problems. When problems occur, the Operating Techs are required to check, control, operate, adjust, replenish, clean, and clear jams for any equipment on the packaging line such as the scale, plodder, cutter, press, carton, wrapper, case packer, case sealer, palletiser, and conveyor systems. Clean or perform other operational duties anywhere on the line.
    • Cleans and changes filters on plodding and die chilling equipment.
    • Constantly monitors product flow, inspects for quality defects, and rejects products unsuitable for sale.
    • Relieves other Operating Techs during breaks and lunches.
    • Signals other Operating Techs, Maintenance Techs, and/or other resources for assistance, information, etc. of material problems, machine trouble, or when adjustments are required.
    • Provides Team Leader with production counts. Records all downtime and reasons.
    • Provides written regulatory information associated with production (i.e.: packaging and product retains, etc.).
    • Cleans around and under operating equipment using necessary tools and appropriately disposes of debris.
    • Packs, seals and hand palletize finished cases as required.
    • Starts up, operates, and shuts down processes in accordance with Team Leader or operational instructions, JSA's, etc.
    • Trains other MOS II personnel.
    • Monitors gauges, controls, etc. for primary and auxiliary equipment to troubleshoot, communicate, and correct problems to maximize production.
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. No task or assignment is exclusive to a classification or skillset. An employee working in this classification is expected to perform various duties and tasks that traditionally may not have been assigned under a more narrow job classification.
