    Description

    Position Purpose (Mission)

    As the MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for the integration of scientific knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information. This responsibility includes completing scans effectively and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of patient care possible in order to provide the most remarkable patient experience.

    Responsibilities, Duties, Functions, Tasks (Outcomes)

  • Complete scans effectively and efficiently:Collect pertinent data about the patient and the procedureSelect the most appropriate, cost-effective action plan after reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patient's abilities and conditionScreen the patient for ferrous and RF-sensitive material before the patient enters the magnetic fieldPosition and prepare patients for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) proceduresSelect appropriate immobilization devicesReview the patient's chart and the physician's request to determine optimal scanning parameters for the suspected pathologyPrepare and administer contrast agents in accordance with state and federal regulationsEnter necessary patient information to initiate the scan(s)Assess and monitor the patient's physical and mental status throughout the procedureReview images to determine if additional scans will enhance the diagnostic value of the procedureDocument diagnostic, treatment and patient data in the appropriate record. Documentation must be timely, accurate, concise and complete.Archive images to data storage devices according to established guidelinesKeep workflow in such a manner that it is an effective use of time, equipment and supplies
  • Maintain the highest standards of patient care possible:Implement and maintain the MedQuest Best Customer Service ProgramProvide accurate explanations and instructions at a level the patient can understandMaintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure techniqueExhibit a high level of technical competence and clinical judgmentEnsure that the required supplies and equipment are availableCheck all equipment routinely and perform preventive maintenance when necessaryShare knowledge and expertise with colleagues, peers and all members of the healthcare teamMaintain a safe environment by monitoring cryogens
  • Ensure the Center's compliance with MedQuest Policy procedures, OSHA, local, state and Federal regulatory requirements:Follow radiation protection guidelinesParticipate in formal training and service programsEnsure that deadlines are met with regards to reportsPerform quality assurance activities based on established quality protocolsDocument quality assurance activities and resultsMaintain strict confidentiality with regard to medical records and other data
  • Continuing Education:Cross-train for additional modalities within the centerComplete and retain certification in MRI technologyBuild education files on an outstanding or interesting case
  • Other duties as assigned

    • Requirements

    Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program
  • ARRT registered with advanced registry in MRI
  • Must complete required CEU's in a timely manner to ensure Certification remains active
  • Active state licensure, where applicable
  • CPR Certification is required

    • Prior Experience:

  • 0+ years of experience as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist, required
  • 2+ years of experience as an MRI Technologist, preferred

    • Special Qualifications:

  • IV skills required
  • Knowledge of MRI procedures and standards
  • Demonstrate adequate knowledge of anatomy
  • Skill in operation of MRI equipment
  • Customer service background and focus
