    Your Specific Responsibilities:
    The Florida Department of Health in St. Johns County (FDOH-SJC) is part of a statewide public health system. The incumbent is expected to support the customer driver organization in a continuous pursuit of performance excellence.

    This position provides operational support for the Community Outreach area but also assists throughout the agency as needed. This position works independently but must also work with coworkers to accomplish deliverables as a team. This position encourages coordination and communication between all areas of FDOH-SJC.


    • Assists the health educators as an active member of the FDOH-SJC public health education/outreach process. Participates in the strategies and methodologies to identify effective materials, tools, and content to create and distribute to diverse audiences.
    • Serves as the Community Outreach area administrative assistant by handling routine calls by screening and referring calls to the appropriate staff, facilitating the operation of the Community Outreach area, and assisting with/supporting any FDOH-SJC outreach activities
    • Participates in outreach events with health educators and community partners. Assists in the securing of resources including services and educational materials as needed for all events. Contributes to after events follow-up. Documents all health promotion activities, events, and community meeting attendance.
    • Provides information to the public regarding the services rendered by FDOH-SJC and general information concerning upcoming outreach events.
    • Maintains schedule of outreach events and grant deliverables. Provides support in the scheduling and completion of events and monitoring and completion of grant deliverables.
    • Assists with preparation of documents for reports and grant deliverables.
    • Maintains an effective, up-to-date record retention/filing system.
    • Completes purchasing and receiving processes and is responsible for the inventory management of the Community Outreach department
    • Performs support functions for FDOH-SJC which includes but is not limited to, working with clients and vendors, answering telephones, processing mail, completing check logs, and providing support for all FDOH-SJC projects and deliverables. Coordinates and participates in meetings and trainings as requested. Provides excellent customer service on the telephone and in person
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Ability to conduct effective time management, to work independently, and to handle multiple tasks while prioritizing those tasks. Skill in meeting deadlines, organizing, using equipment such as, computers, copiers, and scanners, and working with Microsoft applications. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum:

    • A high school diploma or its equivalent two years of secretarial or clerical work experience.
    • Valid driver's license

    Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.

    Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

    Outreach events may be required after-hours and on weekends.
