    JVS provides a broad range of services including adult education, skills training, job readiness training, job placement and support, and access to post-secondary education. JVS assists employers in their search for well-qualified job applicants and their initiatives to upgrade the skills of their incumbent workforce.

    Position Summary: The Career Coach is responsible for supporting the continued career advancement of clients who have completed another program at JVS. The Career Coach will support clients with identifying a career path of interest, creating a plan to work towards that career goal, and taking the next steps needed to advance their careers. The Career Coach will connect clients with both internal and external education and training programs to help them build the skills and qualifications needed to work in their chosen field and will work closely with clients to identify and apply for relevant job opportunities. This person will sustain collaborative working relationships with internal and community partners for participants' employment, education, and training opportunities. Having strong knowledge about issues related to individuals with employment barriers and experience working with people from diverse backgrounds is necessary for this role.

    Bilingual or additional language proficiency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, Arabic, or French is required due to the population we serve.

    Essential Job Functions:

    Accountability and Results Focused:

    • Enroll participants who have completed a program at JVS and support their career advancement.
    • Work collaboratively with the clients' First Program Coaches during the transfer process.
    • Assist program participants in initial goal setting and career planning leading to new or better jobs and/or enrollment in training and education programs, and job placement.
    • Escort participants to job interviews and facilitate interview and hiring process, as needed.
    • Maintain strong connections with community education and training partners.
    • Provide post-placement services including follow-up with participant and employer.
    • Establish, track, and meet program goals (enrollments, placements, retention, etc.)

    Build Relationships, Collaboration and Teamwork:

    • Support and promote the mission and philosophy of JVS both internally and outside the agency.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (e.g. participants, employers, partner organizations, funders, interns, etc.)
    • Connect with programs across the agency to refer interested clients to relevant training and education programs at JVS.
    • Work collaboratively with team members and partners to ensure program goals are met.
    • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and team-based projects.
    • Provide assistance to fellow team members when needed.

    Administrative/Communication:

    • Maintain accurate, up-to-date information in Salesforce.
    • Organize and maintain files and records in SharePoint.
    • Communicate regularly with Supervisor to ensure smooth delivery of services.
    • Contribute summary reports for employers, funders, JVS leadership and other stakeholders.
    • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

    • Associate Degree in Human Services, Business Administration or related field required.
    • Bilingual or additional language proficiency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, Arabic, or French required
    • 1-3 years of experience in workforce development or related field preferred
    • 1-3 years of experience working with individuals with barriers to employment preferred.
    • Familiarity with career ladders, professional advancement, and training and educational resources preferred.
    • Knowledge of refugee and immigrant services, community resources and web-based resources preferred.
    • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills required.

    Working Conditions: Frequent meetings with clients and employers. May be requested to work outside of scheduled hours as defined by the needs of the department. Occasional travel by public transportation to employer locations. May attend occasional off-site meetings with partner organizations in and around the greater Boston area. Service delivery is currently hybrid (in-person at JVS offices and remotely online)
