    About the Role

    We're on the hunt for an experienced and highly driven Database Administrator to enhance and maintain the databases integral to The Graph Studio and Hosted Service. This position demands a profound knowledge of data management and indexing on a large scale, specifically within Postgres databases. Our client handles a high volume of data, making the maintenance and oversight of these systems a key responsibility within their team.

    The bar is high for this role, we would like to see experience in good companies and long tenures.

    Responsibilities

    • Assisting with database architecture projects and providing continuous support and management of databases for our clients hosted service, including system troubleshooting, updating and optimizing database instances, and carrying out preventative maintenance on systems
    • Supporting the creation and upkeep of documentation related to database operations
    • Setting up, configuring, and managing Postgres databases and shards
    • Overseeing the updates of the test, staging, and development environments to ensure smooth operation and integration
    • Monitoring the performance of the databases, and fine-tuning and optimizing the databases and queries to enhance system efficiency
    Requirements
    • Prior experience in the administration, monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of PostgreSQL databases
    • Capability to provide recommendations on enhancing performance and implementing new features in our application's database usage
    • Previous experience in monitoring and troubleshooting Postgres databases
    • Availability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule during business hours
    • Knowledge of Rust or another low-level programming language is a strong advantage
    • Demonstrated skill in effectively collaborating asynchronously with a global team across various time zones
