JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Centre Director acts as an integral member of the Kids & Company team to assist in the overall management of day-to-day operations of all food preparation and cooking in the kitchen.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for all the cooking, baking, and food preparation for the daycare center on a day-to-day basis.
Ensure safe food storage and disposal; including taking daily logs of food temperature and refrigerator/freezer temperatures. Following the FIFO (First in First Out) rule and rotating inventory as required.

In addition to the regular food production schedule, the cook is responsible for preparing meals and snacks for all allergen children, and any other special dietary needs.

Portioning and distributing meals for each classroom.
Collecting, washing, and sanitizing classroom dishes and small wares.
Ensure the accuracy and updated list of allergen children every month.
Be accountable for ordering food supplies from head office weekly.

Responsible for putting away all deliveries without breaking the cold chain for freezer/fridge items and the storage of all dry goods.

Ensure effective cost control by minimizing waste, proper food allocation, controlling food inventories, and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
Comply with health & hygiene requirements under food safety and handling legislation.
Kitchen cleaning and sanitizing of appliances, counters, cupboards, and drawers.
Duties and responsibilities may change from time to time on the needs of the daycare centers. Any other duties as may be assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS
2 3 years of related work experience.
Current Food Handler Certification.
Experience in a daycare environment would be an asset.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds frequently.
Organization skills, detail-oriented, and a strong team player.

Selected candidates must have 2 pieces of valid government ID, and must be able to pass a background criminal check.
