    Senior Manager of Technical Accounting (Debt & Derivatives)

    Location:

    Houston, TXSalary: $180,000Schedule: HybridBonus: 25%Active CPA Preferred | IFRS & US GAAP KnowledgeWe are seeking a dynamic accounting professional with an active CPA license, preferable experience in a national or major regional public accounting firm.

    The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of commodity derivatives, application of accounting principles, and the ability to work with limited supervision.


    Key Responsibilities:

    Derivative Accounting Oversight:
    Supervise day-to-day derivative accounting transactions and month-end controls.
    Collaborate with mid-office/risk and trading/supply teams for effective transaction accounting.
    Lead external reporting processes for derivative-related matters, including earnings calls and financial statements.


    Policy Development & Compliance:
    Develop, implement, and maintain derivative accounting policies and procedures.
    Ensure team compliance with established policies and procedures.
    Manage and be the primary point of contact for all derivative accounting matters with external auditors.


    Technical Accounting Leadership:
    Lead staff development in understanding risk management strategies and derivative positions.
    Represent the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) in discussions on transaction considerations and ensure GAAP application.
    Manage critical accounting policies, analyze industry reference sources, and ensure compliance in financial statements.


    Financial Reporting Coordination:
    Coordinate with the Financial Reporting Manager on quarterly and annual financial statements.
    Review GAAP disclosure checklists for accuracy and completeness.


    Training and Development:
    Lead staff training on challenging technical accounting topics and current issues.
    Stay updated on developments pertinent to the organization.


    Additional Responsibilities:
    Prioritize and manage multiple projects.
    Facilitate change management, both accepting and leading it.
    Excellent written and oral communication skills.
