    As our Programmer or Database Developer, you will:

    Help improve the daily functions of DBAs and the operational efficiency of SPP and the IT organization through the development of automated and innovative software solutions. You will work with the DBA staff, IT partners and other SPP departments to create automation plans that align with busines goals, identifying current and future opportunities for automation, standardization and efficiency. Your tasks could include the development and management of database micro services on Kubernetes clusters, rapid deployment of database management code, development of automated test solutions, database warehouse development, and end-to-end automation code development for various database management systems like PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server and Netezza.

    To be successful as the Programmer or Database Developer, we're looking for:

    • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related field, or equivalent work experience
    • Senior: Eight (8) years of applicable Information Technology development and support experience or equivalent combined experience in development/support and database management
    • Level II: Three (3) years of Information Technology Development/Support experience
    • Level I: No experience
    • Competent working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Unix or Linux operations systems, application development and support, and database management systems
    • Competent troubleshooting, problem solving, and analytical skills to determine effective solutions
    • Competent in scripting, SQL, deciphering error and event logs, and data analysis
    • Competent written and oral communication skills
    • Competent understanding of SDLC and project lifecycle methods and processes
    • Good customer service and organization skills
    • Understanding of, compliance with and enforcement of SPP Policies and Procedures

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

    • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of workweek are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required

    Travel Requirement:

    • This position requires minimal travel (approximately 10%)
