Job description
We are a small company of environmental consultants and engineers and technical, scientific, and business software application developers and engineers that provides environmental, health and safety services to large industrial companies.
The Assistant Trainer is responsible for physical demonstrations during EHS trainings (hosted virtually across multiple time-zones) and Audio/Video operation and development. These trainings, centered around the handling and packaging of hazardous material, require a flexible work schedule, physical labor, some heavy lifting, prop building/maintenance including the use of power tools, and purchasing.
Essential duties
- Assisting with audio/video equipment operation and production development.
- Completing physical demonstrations of the handling and packaging of hazardous materials.
- Communicating topics centered around personal protective equipment, emergency response scenarios, compliance with national and international regulatory frameworks, technical documentation and packaging/labeling.
- Building and maintaining training prop materials.
- Assisting with development of training documentation and content.
- Building safety kits and stocking safety supplies.
- Completing environmental reports and other technical documents.
- Document management including transcribing site notes or inventories, scanning files, and maintaining file folders and document repositories
- Assisting in coordinating shipping, packaging, and logistics for international imports, exports, and intrastate movements of hazardous waste and dangerous goods.
- Completing projects in compliance with complex international regulatory frameworks.
- Assisting clients in the preparation and management of state, federal and international hazardous waste field services projects.
Position requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- Organized and competent with Excel, Word and Outlook.
- The ability to interact with many different types of individuals, including executives, scientists, engineers, and other business professionals.
- Strong technical writing and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate ideas and properly describe problems and solutions.
- Comfortable with speaking and presenting in virtual trainings.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Position will require occasional night shifts up to 3hrs at a time and a flexible schedule.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Other desirable skills
- Audio/Video production experience.
- Competency of video production software including the use of OBS studio.
- Logistics experience.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
Working conditions
The job is performed in an office environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards. The job requires some physical exertion, including sitting, standing, occasional light lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling. The job requires operation of standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, copiers, etc. The job requires following written and oral instructions, attention to detail, ability to multitask, ability to work with others and ability to meet deadlines. The job requires following established policies and procedures, meeting quality and safety standards and regular attendance. The job requires making decisions based on experience and knowledge without supervision and requires responsibility for results.
