    Description

    Overview:

    Purpose of the Role:


    The Automation Engineer provides in-house capability of designing, testing, and improving automated system solutions in various mechanical and digital environments by optimizing processes, and creating a stable production environment.


    Key Performance Indicators:

    Sustainability:
    Implement two major or four minor continuous improvements/automation optimizations per year.

    Customer Experience:
    Provide one automation training per month.

    Leadership:
    Complete two continuous education activities per year.


    Responsibilities:

    CORE FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
    Automation (75%): Cultivate and foster trusting relationships across the organization to cohesively implement automation improvements.

    Diligently analyze processes, tooling, and metrics to provide possible solutions to production inefficiencies, tooling cost reductions, and machine usability efficiency.

    Review, update, and create automation processes for the production floor that ensure maximum productivity and quality products.

    Training (15%): Administer and manage automation training to ensure team members are competent and capable robot operators.

    Cohesively work with supervisors to provide thorough training to all machinists, providing them with a full understanding of automation and best practice expectations.

    Continuous Education (10%): Consistently seek learning on new automation and robotic technology.

    Stay abreast of technological advancements and actively seek opportunities for improvement within the organization and professionally by researching new technologies, processes, and tooling.


    Qualifications:

    TECHNICAL SKILLS:

    Required:
    Strong programming skills, Automation experience, PLC experience, Ability to read and decipher electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic blueprints, Standard model interpretation, Machine to Robot Integration experience, Strong mathematical aptitude (Trigonometry and Geometry)

    Preferred:
    CAD/CAM experience, Fanuc Robot experience, Metallurgical knowledge


    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    Required:

    An associate degree in Automation (Programming, Robotics, Machine Technology) and 4 years of advanced manufacturing experience or 6 years of advanced manufacturing experience.


    Preferred:
    Four-year Engineering degree (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical) and 2 years advanced manufacturing experience.
