    Position Summary:

    The Underwriting Auditor is responsible for the examination and analysis of underwriting files, policies, and/or accounts to determine underwriting effectiveness. Through proper analysis and investigation, the Auditor will be responsible for evaluating files, preparing reports that indicate whether procedures/guidelines were followed, and communicating these results. This individual will utilize strong and effective communication skills with Underwriters, Underwriting support teams, and managers in an effort to share information, educate, and reinforce proper underwriting/procedural standards.

    Essential Functions:

    • Collect and analyze data to detect deficiencies in underwriting, processing, or customer service.
    • Ability to navigate multiple carrier websites as well as internal company websites and programs to locate the information necessary to review the underwriting file.
    • Prepare reports to communicate audit results and recommendations to management and other key employees.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement to help eliminate duplicated effort, inefficiencies, non-compliance with regulations or underwriting guidelines, and/or management policies.
    • Assist with testing of the company's internal processes, systems, and controls to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and use of accepted underwriting procedures.
    • Develop recommendations to strengthen internal controls, improve business processes, and verify that proper internal control safeguards are in place.
    • Ability to prepare effective written communication documents, including summaries, reports, and lists of deficiencies.
    • Other relevant duties as assigned.

    Education/Experience/Skills:

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in insurance or regulatory compliance is required.
    • Experienced with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
    • Must have insurance industry knowledge and experience, specifically with a background in underwriting.
    • Must have superior project management and process improvement skills.
    • Innate ability to use an analytical approach to resolve complex issues is required.
    • Must be an enthusiastic, positive person who embraces a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
    • Establish collaborative working relationships and actively develop them to more effectively accomplish work objectives.
    • Ability to multi-task; set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals and evaluate processes/results while maintaining strong attention to detail.
    • Strong skills in researching, interpreting and translating complex information to a diverse audience.

    The target salary range for this position is $55,000 - $80,000 annually. The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
