    We are currently seeking an experienced

    Principal Manufacturing Engineer

    to join our Process Engineering team in our

    Promontory, UT

    facility.


    This job requires technical / manufacturing oversight, investigative problem resolution, process improvement and cost savings projects through lean manufacturing principles, data analysis, and presentation skills to leadership and external customers.


    Role description:
    Designs manufacturing processes, for highly energetic, static sensitive, corrosive, and chemical processes.

    Designs arrangement of machines and tools within the facility to ensure the most safe and efficient layout. Implements qualification and change management processes to ensure products or services meet customer requirements.


    Engineer must understand all safety risks of the process and design the processes such that safety risks are mitigated or eliminated.

    All processes must meet the minimum standard as outlined in (HOPs) Hazards Operation Standard. Engineers works closely with the Hazards Analysis and Cross Functional Engineering group in designing and setting up the processes.


    Develops energetic processes such that safety interlocks, standardization requirements for mixes, and remote processes are incorporated into the process for operator and process safety.


    Designs sequence of operations and quality control that specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

    Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

    Supports cross function matrixed investigation teams with emphasis on root cause analysis, process failure modes, non-conformances and effective analysis.

    Successful candidate will need to come to speed quickly, providing technical support for numerous production and developmental programs.

    Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Interface with the division Design Engineering function and external customers to develop test requirements and processes

    Partner with PM, VSET, Quality and Safety to ensure test methods meet all applicable requirements and regulations

    Author, update, and review shop floor planning. Conduct tabletop reviews for shop planning.


    Prepare and present technical documentation supporting numerous and varied reviews and meetings attended by a broad scope of peers and stake-holders, including senior management.

    Support numerous reviews including but not limited to: TRR, ORI, TTR, BRR, POR, post op debrief

    Identify, specify, and implement improvements to meet requirements and support Continuous Improvement initiatives.

    Process owner for various energetic processes including fabrication, machining, test, and data analysis.

    Technical owner for numerous expensive, complex pieces of fabrication and test equipment.

    Fully support technicians on production line including OP-Es, shop floor instructions, daily coordination, and general assistance.

    Develop documentation packages; educate and/or train technicians on new or modified tooling and/or processes.

    Install new tooling, equipment, etc. as needed for new programs and customers.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    Desire to develop and improve manufacturing/test processes. Workplace will include areas where explosives, chemicals, and hazardous operations may be encountered.

    Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment as part of a multi-discipline team

    Responsive and follows-through in a timely fashion on all inquiries.

    Multi-tasker can handle working multiple projects at one time.

    Creative and open minded to new materials, processes, etc.

    Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently and organize/prioritize job assignments and tasks

    Provide creative yet practical technical solutions to material and process trouble-shooting issues.

    Drive for efficiency and conscientious of cost, schedule, and scope.

    Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical information including hazards and mitigation plans to all organizational levels in written and oral formats

    Able to see how the system works (big picture) while working on individual components (details)


    Education/Certifications:
    Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics could be considered), with 5 years of experience, MS with 3 years of experience

    Position may be filled at higher level requiring a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics could be considered), with 9 years of experience, MS with 7 years of experience

    Ability to obtain Security Clearance


    Salary Range:
    $92,600 - $139,000


    Salary Range 2:
    $114,900 - $172,300


    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
