    My client is a reputable company in the Retail space looking to grow their legal team. They are seeking a skilled and experienced Labor and Employment Counsel to join their legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in labor and employment law, with expertise in advising on a wide range of employment-related matters.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws, regulations, and requirements.
    2. Develop, review, and update company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and best practices in areas such as employment discrimination, harassment, wage and hour laws, employee leave, and workplace safety.
    3. Provide legal advice and counsel to HR professionals, managers, and other stakeholders on a variety of employment-related issues, including hiring, termination, discipline, employee relations, accommodations, and investigations.
    4. Manage labor and employment litigation matters, including employment discrimination claims, wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination suits, and other employment-related claims.
    5. Review and negotiate employment agreements, severance agreements, non-compete agreements, and other employment-related contracts.
    6. Develop and conduct training sessions for employees, managers, and HR professionals on labor and employment law compliance, best practices, and risk mitigation strategies.
    7. Represent the company in communications and interactions with government agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Department of Labor (DOL), and state employment agencies, regarding audits, investigations, and compliance matters.
    8. Monitor developments in labor and employment law and participate in industry associations and advocacy efforts to influence legislative and regulatory developments that affect the company's interests.

    Qualifications:

    1. Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
    2. Admission to the state bar and good standing with the bar association.
    3. 5 years of experience practicing labor and employment law, preferably in a corporate or law firm setting.
    4. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local labor and employment laws, regulations, and precedents.
