POSITION:
Assistant Professor of Computer Science
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science welcomes applications for the tenure-track position
Assistant Professor of Computer Science. Applicants should be broadly trained in computer science with a
passion for teaching in a liberal arts setting. The applicant should also be innovative and committed to
working closely with students both inside and outside of the classroom.
Our department is made up of faculty and staff who wish to build strong bonds with our students. We work
one-on-one with students in independent studies on diverse topics and often engage with student clubs in
planning community events and tech talks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Ph.
D.
in Computer Science or related field is required by the time the position begins (Fall All-butdissertation (ABD) candidates will be considered if the degree is close to completion.
Candidates must havestrong communications skills and demonstrate the ability to engage undergraduate students. Preferred
candidates will have teaching experience beyond typical TA responsibilities with experience working with
students from diverse backgrounds and underrepresented groups.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Assistant Professor of Computer Science should be able to teach any of the courses in our introductory
sequence. Upper-division courses can be taught based on the professor's expertise. The teaching load is three
courses per semester. The Assistant Professor may also advise and mentor undergraduate students
participating in their year-long Senior Research Project. Other responsibilities include student advising as

THE DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers undergraduate degrees including Computer
Information Systems, Computer Science, and
Cybersecurity ). Our department is
dynamic and engaged. Faculty have close connections to the students due to our small class sizes and
individual senior research mentorship. Our students and professors routinely publish papers together and
attend conferences. Our department has hosted hackathons, high school programming contests, and has an
active computer science club. We commonly have alumni visit our department and give talks about their
lives after college or in graduate school. Our department offices and most of our teaching classrooms are in a
beautiful 120 year old brick building with a rich history.
THE
COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES:
Stetson's College of Arts and Sciences ) is the largest and
most diverse of the University's colleges and schools. With nineteen academic departments and nine
interdisciplinary programs, the College is the liberal arts core of the University; it includes the humanities,
social sciences, natural sciences, education, and creative arts. A great strength of the College is its faculty of
