    We are looking for a Quantum Sales Executive who will be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world's best quantum computers to solve the world's most complex problems. This candidate will need to broaden IonQ's reach to commercialize IonQ's Quantum Hardware, Software, and Applications. We are looking for sales leaders to build and lead our State & Local Government and Education sales outreach. This is an individual contributor role with potential to build a team down the road.

    Responsibilities:

    • Create and execute IonQ's SLED sales strategy
    • Identify new opportunities with State, local, Higher Ed, and Academic institutions
    • Develop a pipeline of sales opportunities for IonQ's Quantum Computers.
    • Work with customers to identify and collaborate on new use cases
    • Qualify the opportunities based on budget availability, skills, interest, executive commitment, and timing.
    • Form proposals for access to IonQ's system via the cloud, as a remote dedicated system, or an "on-prem" dedicated system. Take into consideration State and local restrictions.
    • Negotiate agreements and close business relationships.
    • Drive customer satisfaction, bringing attention to the broader team for any inhibitors or concerns related to the relationship

    You'd be a good fit with:

    • An undergraduate degree in Science, Engineering, Math, Computer Science or another relevant technical field (STEM).
    • Minimum of 10-years experience in Sales/Business Development with quota carrying responsibilities
    • Existing relationships with Academic and Government stakeholders
    • Proven team player with leadership abilities and a getting your hands dirty to get the job done

    You'd be a great fit with:

    • Knowledge in Quantum Computing Platforms, Algorithms, Applications (AI/ML at minimum)
    • Experience in category creation selling i.e. creating compelling approaches to sell solutions that are not usually a named category in customer budgets
    • Demonstrated experience and understanding of the business drivers and use of technology in Financial Services
    • Proven negotiating skills

    The salary range for this position is $189,659 to $247,322.


    Our HQ is located in College Park, Maryland and we are a 15 minute metro ride from Washington DC. We are actively building out our recently opened manufacturing and production facility in the Seattle, Washington area. Depending on the position, you may be required to be located in Washington DC, Seattle, Washington or the Toronto, Canada area. However, IonQ will be expanding into additional geographies both domestically and internationally so don't let this stop you from applying.

    The base pay component of the offer will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Posted figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. The total compensation package may include other elements dependent on the position and level.
