- A master's degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited institution. Master's degree candidates will be eligible for appointment as a Service Instructor. Candidates who have a master's degree in social work and a doctoral degree in social work or a related field such as counseling, sociology, psychology, or education will be considered for appointment as a Service Assistant Professor.
- A minimum of two years of post-MSW professional social work practice.
- Ability to develop online education, using technology, and online education software platforms.

The School of Social Work in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University invites applications for a Service Instructor or Service Assistant Professor of Social Work starting July 1, 2024.
In addition to teaching, this candidate will serve as the inaugural BSW Online Coordinator. This is a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track position with full benefits.Service Instructor and Service Assistant Professor appointments have renewable terms of up to three years, with no limit on the number of terms.
These positions are eligible for promotion (e.g., Service Instructor to Service Assistant Professor; Service Assistant Professor to Service Associate Professor, etc.); however, promotion to senior ranks is not a requirement for institutional commitment and career stability.
In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will coordinate and develop a new Bachelor of Social Work online program that will exist in parallel to the existing campus-based Bachelor of Social Work program.
The coordinator will engage in online course development, teaching, academic advising, student success and retention activities, recruitment and partnership-building activities with stakeholders, and academic and professional service.
The teaching load is five courses or course equivalents per calendar year.
The WVU School of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and enrolls approximately 350 students across BSW, MSW, and PhD program levels.
