    Duties


    • You will perform metal welding work related to the manufacture, repair, modification, and assembly of various equipment, systems, and structures.
    • You will use torch to heat metals and bend into specified shapes.
    • You will perform trade procedures such as brazing, soldering, flame, and arc cutting, surface hardening, annealing, and metal spraying.
    • You will prepare welds for final inspection by removing slag, splatter, and irregularities from welds.
    • You will follow instructions from higher level employee or supervisor to plan, lay out work, and complete welding jobs

    The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Performing standard welding operations on a variety of parts, equipment, and machinery; 2) Preparing weld for final inspection by removing slag, splatter, and irregularities from welds; 3) Following oral instructions and written work orders to perform assigned welds; and 4) Heating metals with a torch to bend into specified shapes

    PHYSICAL EFFORT Employee frequently works from stands and other hard-to-reach places
    Must stand, stoop, bend kneel, climb, stretch, and work in awkward and cramped positions when welding in hard-to-reach or confined spaces
    Frequently handles objects weighing up to 45 pounds and over 45 pounds with assistance
    WORK CONDITIONS Employee works both inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather and in areas that are noisy, dirty, greasy, and smoky
    The incumbent may be exposed to fumes, heat, flying sparks, the glare of torches, and heated materials; possibility of eye injury, electric shock, broken bones, and the chance of cuts when working with sharp objects

    There may be discomfort when wearing protective clothing, safety shoes, gloves, and flash shield or eye goggles, and other equipment as required.
