    Position Summary

    The School of Lifelong Learning in the College of Education and Human Development is seeking applications for a Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies (Tenure-Track).

    The School of Lifelong Learning welcomes applicants from disciplines whose research, teaching, service, grant writing, and other scholarly or civic activities demonstrate interdisciplinary engagement with Education, Adult Learning/Non-traditional learners, Career and Workforce Development, or related fields. Qualifications Minimum Required Education Must hold a terminal degree in Adult Education, Interdisciplinary Studies, or a closely related discipline(s), such as Workforce Development and Organizational Leadership, at the time of appointment (ABD applicants may apply). Minimum Required Experience
  • Experience advising non-traditional adult learners, transfer students, etc.
  • Experience connecting coursework to workforce skills and competencies.
  • Experience implementing interventions that support recruitment, retention, and on-time graduation of nontraditional, readmit, and transfer students.
  • Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications None required. Qualifications
  • Must have an active research agenda and/or a clearly defined research plan, preferably in areas such as: Adult Education and career transitions, Recruitment and Retention of Non-traditional/Adult Learners, and High Impact Practices in teaching and learning.
  • Must have strong educational technology and digital literacy skills.
  • Must have some college level teaching experience.
  • Must exhibit strong potential for excellence in teaching, both in-person and online.
  • A commitment to fostering a strong collaborative environment by being actively engaged in on-campus activities and departmental/college meetings/programs, etc.
  • Candidates are expected to produce documentation of experience and effectiveness in teaching interdisciplinary courses at the college level.

  • Responsible for teaching a 4-4 course load for Fall and Spring sessions.
  • Actively engage in recruitment and retention, program assessment and evaluations, and program development.
  • The School of Lifelong Learning seeks scholars who are equally committed to mentoring, teaching, and producing research that informs how we support the academic and professional growth of nontraditional learners in a higher education setting.
