    We are looking for a full-time

    Structural Engineering Group Manager

    in our Anchorage office to be an integral part of the success of our company.


    This position involves the design, analysis, and evaluation of a variety of structural systems, from relatively simple (concrete slabs and retaining walls) to complex (multi-story commercial buildings and large airline hangers).

    Design and evaluation of both new and existing structures is expected.

    Inspection to determine the structural soundness of existing facilities is anticipated, along with the ability to design retrofits to mitigate deficiencies and/or comply with existing building codes.


    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    Where applicable, directs and oversees less experienced team members regarding structural design tasks and assignments.

    Manage overall department workload and delegate work appropriately to other staff.

    Provide quality assurance and quality control of structural department products.

    Lead pursuit of new work and prepare proposals with the assistance of CRW's Marketing Group.


    Duties/Responsibilities:
    Design, analyze, and inspect structures for government, private, commercial, and industrial projects throughout Alaska.

    Perform structural design calculations for new and existing buildings, retaining structures, foundations, bridges, and other similar structures.

    Generate structural drawings and specifications for construction documents.

    Develop engineering reports.

    Performs other duties as assigned.


    Required Skills/Abilities:
    Thorough understanding of structural engineering principles, practices, and tools.

    Proficient in Autodesk Revit and other design spreadsheet, and structural analysis software.


    Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings, bridges, retaining walls, and other related structures.

    Thorough understanding of design codes and standards related to assigned projects.

    Ability to identify and solve complex problems.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Ability to be both creative and analytical.

    Detail-oriented and accurate.

    Ability to work independently or with a team.

    Excellent communication skills.

    Good working knowledge of national codes and standards.

    Amenable to occasional traveling to rural parts of Alaska and NW United States.


    Education and Experience:
    Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering.

    Minimum 5-15 years of structural design experience as a licensed engineer.

    PE required, SE strongly desired.

    Proficient knowledge of structural design software (RISA, ENERCALC, etc.).

    Working knowledge of REVIT Structural.

    Experience designing wood, steel, concrete and masonry structures.


    Physical Requirements:
    Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

    Must be able to travel to various project sites, often in small aircraft.
