    Summary:


    The Operations Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting related to our upstream operations, including revenue recognition, cost allocation, financial analysis, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

    The Operations Accounting Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, optimize financial performance, and drive business growth.


    Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions:


    Manage and oversee all accounting activities related to operations accounting functions including revenue, JIB, and accounts payable and maintain a direct link to financial accounting.

    Manage and oversee preparation of production and sales/use tax reporting.
    Assist in ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
    Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company guidelines.

    Collaborate with operations teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes related to capital investments, cost management, and operational efficiency.

    Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis relating to operational revenues and costs.

    Review and analyze operational financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and make recommendations for improvement.
    Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external audits, providing documentation, explanations, and support as needed.
    Provide adhoc reporting support for internal and external requests (LOS statements, AFE variance analysis, budget vs actual, gas analysis).

    Education and Experience (required):
    8+ years of accounting experience.
    Experience working in upstream oil & gas.
    Proficiency in Microsoft 360; advanced user of Excel.
    Experience using BOLO, OpenInvoice and Energy Link
    Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

    Other Requirements:

    • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screening
    • Valid driver's license, acceptable motor vehicle report, and good driving habits
    • Ability to legally work in the US without sponsorship

    Compensation:
    Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $130,000 – $165,000 annually in this location.

    Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amount listed above.

    Location:
    This position is located Denver, CO.

    Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered, however, it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location.

    No relocation or travel assistance will be provided by the Company for this position.

    Work Environment:
    This position operates in an office and field environment.

    This entails working inside in an office space wherein employee may be provided a public work station (cubicle) or private office.

    From time to time, the role will require field visits where exposure to extreme weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, dust, electrical charges and other unforeseen exposures may be encountered.


    Physical Demands:


    In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time.

    While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individuals might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individuals might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.

    Position Type and Working Hours:
    This is a full-time position. Bison operates on a 9/80 schedule. Core hours are Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and working Fridays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    Employee must be capable and willing to work overtime as required and to participate in occasional meetings, events, seminars, conferences, or other activities outside of typical work hours.

    Employees responsible for project operations are expected to monitor and, in some cases, respond to emails, calls, or texts outside of business hours.


    Travel:
    Occasional travel to work site locations may be expected. Overnight stays may be required from time to time for training, seminars, field visits, or visits to onsite locations.
