    Weekly Pay & Benefits

    Position: Chem Tech Associate

    Start Date: 5/28 or 6/3

    Pay: $19-21/hr

    Hours: 1st shift, 6AM-5:30PM (employer flexible to have employee work 8-hour shift in this block of time) 30-minute lunch.

    Location: Portland, OR 97222

    Length: 4-months, contract to hire

    Position Summary:

    • Provide analytical support and perform high quality chemical analyses to meet customer expectations in a timely and cost effective manner.
    • This position entails sample preparation (cutting and grinding) and operation of combustion testing instruments to perform a variety of analytical tests.
    • Perform routine maintenance of equipment per established maintenance schedule.
    • Employee must perform all work safely and in accordance with company policies, specifications and procedures.
    • Employee is responsible for performing and documenting accurate and timely testing.

    Major Accountabilities/Deliverables:

    • Perform chemical sample preparations for combustion method testing.
    • Mechanical sample prep will include cutting and grinding of metal samples using various equipment including belt sander, jewelers saw, abrasive cut off saw and rotary wet grinder.
    • Analyze samples using a variety of analytical instrumentation.
    • Analytical instrumentation may include but is not limited to oxygen/nitrogen analyzer, hydrogen analyzer, carbon/sulfur determinator and arc-spark optical emission spectrometer (OES).
    • Perform work in accordance with proper work procedures and in a safe manner.
    • Maintain work area conditions and appearance at expected IMR standards.
    • Interface with coworkers on a regular basis to ensure highest level of customer satisfaction is maintained.
    • Complete work assignments on scheduled due dates and keep management informed of problems that affect workflow.
    • Order routine consumable supplies as needed.
    • Ensure that consumables do not run out.
    • Participate is process, safety and ergonomic improvement activities applicable to chemistry department.
    • Perform preventive maintenance and assist in troubleshooting and repairs of equipment as needed.
    • Perform other tasks as directed by management.
